The staff tell us they have been let go after they attended a rally against SB 1070, however the restaurant says there is more towards the story. They apparently skipped out on their scheduled shifts to attend the protest.
Those 12 former workers want their jobs back again, and are also asking for back pay and an apology from Pei Wei. They say other employees who failed to indicate as much as deliver the results had been punished -- not fired -- and they shouldn't are already treated differently.
They're now getting their protest to Pei Wei's front door.
"I thought they have been likely to assist us in 1 way but they did not," says Elizabeth Serafin, who was fired. She affirms she didn't call in May 29 simply because other employees had asked for that day off but ended up denied.
